AppForShare vs Diawi
Diawi and AppForShare do the same core job: you upload an iOS or Android build, you get a link, and testers install it over the air from the phone browser. Neither needs an app store review.
The difference is in the limits. Diawi links expire after 1 to 15 days depending on the plan and stop after a set number of installs. On AppForShare Pro and Team, links stay live for as long as you subscribe and installs are counted by bandwidth, not per link.
Pick AppForShare if
- You want links that keep working for the whole test cycle, not a few days.
- Your builds are larger than 20 MB and you want to stay on a free plan (Free allows 150 MB).
- You want install analytics, webhooks and CI uploads in one plan at a fixed USD price.
- You need a custom domain or a white label install page for clients.
Pick Diawi if
- You only need a link for a day or two and want no account at all.
- You already have Diawi wired into your tooling through its API.
- You prefer billing in EUR.

Link expiry is the big difference
On Diawi a link is available until a date tied to the last install, the installs left and whether you disabled it. Expired links can be re-enabled for a short time on an account, but not when you used Diawi without one. Once a link is gone the files are deleted.
On AppForShare a link without an account lasts 3 days and a Free link lasts 7 days. On Pro and Team links have no fixed end date: they stay live while the plan is active. If you cancel, links follow Free rules and stay live 7 more days.
How the limits are counted
Diawi caps installs per app on each plan. AppForShare counts bandwidth instead: the bytes testers download per month (10 GB on Free, 40 GB on Pro, 150 GB on Team). A 50 MB build installed 20 times is about 1 GB. Nothing is billed automatically if you hit the cap; links show that the owner needs more bandwidth.
Questions
- Is AppForShare a free Diawi alternative?
- Yes. You can upload without an account (50 MB, 3 day link) or sign up for Free (150 MB files, 7 day links, 2 GB storage, 10 GB of installs a month).
- Do my testers need an account?
- No. They open the link or scan the QR code on the phone and install. You can add a password to any build.
- Can I install App Store or TestFlight builds from a link?
- No, on neither service. iOS builds must be signed Ad Hoc (with the tester UDID in the profile), Enterprise or Development. Our free UDID finder at /udid helps collect UDIDs.
